International Program

Portland Lutheran School welcomes international students to its middle and high school each year. International students study in an English immersion program. Additionally, English as a second language focuses on technical skills such as proper pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and conversation as well as on literature. International students also are offered an introductory course in Christianity and a class on American culture. The goal is to integrate the international student into the standard curriculum as soon as possible.

While some international students are on a one-year cultural exchange, many others graduate from Portland Lutheran and go on to matriculate at American universities.

Recent international students have come from throughout the world, including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Macau, Vietnam, China, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland, Norway, Russia, Jordan, Iran, Brazil and Mexico.
