Building Scholarship Through Curriculum, Service
Portland Lutheran School is committed to the enlightenment of children through an integrated program of academics, arts, athletics, social activities and spiritual education.
Portland Lutheran employs the rich resources of a college preparatory curriculum, adapted appropriately to early childhood through secondary levels, to encourage students to develop a comprehensive view of their opportunities and roles in an ever-changing society. Drawing on a distinctively Christian foundation and the classical tradition of Lutheran education, professional and administrative staff is dedicated to helping each student realize his or her full potential.
Certified teachers work to stimulate intellectual and spiritual curiosity, encourage independent thinking and foster individual responsibility, challenging children to think, reason, question and experiment. In the elementary years, those pursuits are teacher-directed. Moving into the secondary phase, they become more student-driven.
At each level, Portland Lutheran intentionally cultivates the development of healthy individual identities, positive self-esteem and commitment to community.
Portland Lutheran has been continuously accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools and Colleges since 1948 and is fully accredited by the National Lutheran School Accreditation Program.
