Blue Jay Alumnus Sets College Scoring Record

January 9 2008

Josh Dressler (2004) set many school records in boys basketball during his time as a student/athlete at Portland Lutheran School. He is now continuing that role during his junior year at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. On December 21 Josh hit 13-of-27 shots from the field, as well as 15-of-22 from the foul line on the way to a 48 point game, breaking a school record that stood for nearly fifty years. He added six assists and five rebounds as well. His feat helped PLU to a 115-108 double overtime win over Ramapo (NJ) at the Cactus Jam Tournament.

The previous record of 44 points was scored by Chuck Curtis against Whitworth College on February 15, 1958.

A junior at PLU, Josh is majoring in Health and Fitness Management. After graduating from PLU, Josh would like to continue his basketball career. He has stated that he would like to play basketball overseas – possibly in Italy. After his basketball career, he plans to be a trainer for a college or professional team.
