Cheryl Burris Ends Record-Breaking High School Basketball Career

May 1 2007

Senior Cheryl Burris finished her outstanding career at Portland Lutheran School by owning 14 records, including career steals with 654 and career points with 2002.

Cheryl became the 10th girl in Oregon history to score over 2000 points, and her 2002 career points rank her ninth on Oregon’s all-time scoring list. She was selected to play in the prestigious Les Schwab Northwest Shootout, which pits the top girls from Oregon against the top girls from Washington. Cheryl was the only player from the 2A ranks to play on the team. She also added to her list of accomplishments recently when she was named as a First Team All-State selection by Oregon coaches.

This is the first time an athlete from Portland Lutheran has been named to an All-State First Team since Tim Petke was selected in baseball in 1998.

Cheryl will conclude her career in the OACA Senior All-Star series June 15-16.

Cheryl plans to continue her basketball career at Pacific Lutheran University.
